Captain Roy's Maritime Service started at a very young age. Born into a fishing family, both Grandfather and Father were captains. At age 6 he began fishing with his father and continued until he graduated from high school.
He joined the Navy and served 10 years, on aircraft carriers, AGC'S LST'S, LSM'S,LCU'S & River Gunboats used in South Vietnam, gaining useful knowledge. He attended Naval Instructor School in San Diego where he discovered his love for teaching.
After retiring from Weyerhaeuser, he put The Captains Course together and got it approved by the Coast Guard. Being a fisherman at heart, he truly loves teaching his fellow captains.
He is an avid recreational fisherman and has spent time as a commercial fisherman. He currently holds a US Coast Guard, 100 Ton Merchant Marine Masters License.
He is a retired Volunteer Fireman and certified EMT. He is very active in his community and The First Baptist Church.
